Winter House

Rural and Small community Housing Solution.

Our purpose

Winter House builds low-rise apartment housing in small and rural communities across Eastern Ontario to provide those facing renoviction and homelessness with long-term housing solutions to vulnerable populations.

There has been a rapid increase in “renovictions” across small and rural municipalities since Covid-19 that has inherently impacted seniors and vulnerable populations who rented single family homes for under $900.00/month. Renting a home in rural and small communities in Ontario was once an affordable housing option for Canadians, but this is quickly started to vanish. Many who were impacted (and who continue to be impacted) by “renovictions” are seniors that are on fixed incomes who had never planned for the new housing market we find ourselves in today.

Our mission is to provide long-term affordable and adequate housing solutions to those on fixed incomes. We want to provide housing options to those who are facing notices to vacate to stop the long-term impacts that typically come with these notices - reducing the strain on all social services.
